The Process

At The Height Center, we’ve streamlined the journey to increasing your stature into a comprehensive and easy-to-understand process. Every phase is meticulously designed to provide clarity and help you achieve optimal results. Whether it’s the initial consultation with Dr. Banerjee, the surgical procedure or the post-operative care, we are dedicated to ensuring that you are well-informed and supported as we work together to achieve your goals.

01.

Consultation

Your journey to a taller stature begins with an initial consultation with Dr. Banerjee, where he will assess your specific needs, overall health and expectations to determine if you are a good candidate for cosmetic height enhancement. During this time, you’ll have an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have, understand potential outcomes and gain a clearer picture of the entire treatment process. This session aims to provide clarity on the procedure and your goals, ensuring that you make an informed decision about moving forward.

To determine final candidacy, an additional consultation may be scheduled at our office in Plano, Texas. At this time, X-rays and other diagnostic tests and tools are used to evaluate your bone structure and begin planning your cosmetic height enhancement surgery. We will also provide you with a detailed breakdown of the costs of treatment and explore payment plans or financing options, if needed. If any portion of your treatment is covered by your health insurance, we will help you take the necessary steps to maximize any available benefits.

02.

Schedule & Travel

Once you decide to move forward with treatment, the next step involves coordinating your surgery date and any necessary travel logistics. At The Height Center, we will assist in scheduling your procedure, providing details about pre-operative preparations and offering guidance on accommodation and transportation if you’re traveling to Plano, Texas.

For out-of-town patients, we know the prospect of traveling for a procedure can seem daunting. That’s why we provide not just medical expertise but also logistical support. Before your surgery, you’ll receive detailed information about pre-operative preparations to ensure you’re both mentally and physically prepared, as well as recommendations on the best places to stay in town. Transportation suggestions will also be shared to help you get to your appointments, ensuring you have a hassle-free experience from arrival to departure.

03.

Surgery

The day of your surgery has arrived. Under the meticulous care of Dr. Banerjee, you’ll undergo a minimally invasive procedure to insert the Precice implant system into the targeted limb. This involves making small incisions length and creating a controlled fracture (osteotomy) to divide the bone into two separate segments. Then, the adjustable device will be inserted into the inner hollow of the bone, called the medullary cavity.

The surgery takes a few hours to complete and is performed with general anesthesia to ensure your comfort. Afterward, you’ll be given all necessary post-operative care and can expect a short hospital stay for monitoring and to begin your initial recovery.

04.

Post-Operative Lengthening & Physical Therapy

After your surgery and initial recovery period, the lengthening process will begin. The Precice implant is a telescoping rod that contains a small magnetically controlled mechanism. Using an external remote, the Precice implant undergoes controlled adjustments and slowly lengthens by up to 1 mm per day. As the two bone segments separate to increase your height, new bone tissue grows to fill in the newly created gap. This process takes several months to complete, depending on your individual goals.

Physical therapy plays a pivotal role during the lengthening phase of treatment. This aids in the development of new bone and helps to maintain muscle strength, joint flexibility and proper alignment, ensuring the long-term stability of the elongated limb. In addition to physical therapy, regular check-ups will be scheduled to make sure the bone is lengthening at a healthy rate. The process may be sped up or slowed down for the best results.

05.

Life at your new height

Following the lengthening process, you will enter the consolidation or healing phase – a critical period where the newly formed bone solidifies and reaches its full strength. Typically lasting twice as long as the lengthening phase, this period is essential for ensuring the durability and functionality of the extended limb. Once your bones have reached a sufficient length and you’ve achieved your desired height, your results are permanent.

After the healing phase has completed and your bones have fully stabilized, it’s time to remove the Precice implant and embrace life from a new perspective. As you stand taller, you’ll likely experience a boost in your confidence and self-esteem. Many patients find this journey to be transformative, positively affecting nearly every area of their lives. As you navigate this new world at your enhanced height, it’s a chance to embrace challenges, seize opportunities and stride forth with a revitalized sense of purpose and vigor.
